Dirt From Future live at Hard Rock Cafe Milan

dırt from future

Dirt From Future is an alternative metal band from Italy, formed by Turkish duo Atakan Gulsen and Kenan Korhan Odabas. The two met through a network of young Turkish students in Milan. The duo, alongside rest of the initial full-Turkish line-up, started the project with intention: play live, and make original songs, don't sacrifice one for another.

When they met drummer Stefano Topan through a Facebook post and bassist Andrea Pallotta through a Whatsapp group, the debut City of Sins was almost already completely produced, and Catastrophe was already underway in production. Stepping in at the last minute, Topan injected a lively drum sound into the song, and from Catastrophe forward, DFF composed as a 4-piece band, not anymore a duo.

Initially, the band mainly drew inspiration from the music they have been listening to growing up: 2000s metalcore and nu-metal scenes. Trying to merge elements from their Y2K-metal inspiration with modern alternative-to-heavy production techniques, DFF's sound is an ongoing journey. What they know about the music they make is that it is alternative, it is heavy, they move a lot while playing it, and they make people a lot while playing it live.

One year after being formed, they already released their first two singles with hand-drawn animated lyrics videos, won Hard Rock Café Milan's New Talents on Stage contest, played in various events, and made Milanese people remember why they love moshing in concerts.
